Seventeen year old Juliette Ferrars is in an asylum for murdering a young boy three years earlier. The memory of the accident still haunts her. What is more unnerving is the fact that she killed him by her touch. She has the strange ability to suck any living organism’s energy through contact. Her ability horrifies her, and this isolates her from other inmates. One day her isolation is brought to an abrupt end with the coming of Adam Kent, her new cellmate. She soon grows close to Adam and shows him around the asylum. However, when the totalitarian government called the Reestablishment comes for Juliette, she discovers that there are people who would use her powers for evil. She must escape their clutches, but that is no easy task as she doesn’t know if she can trust anyone. Adding to her problems is Adam who is oddly familiar to Juliette. She cannot shake away the feeling that she has met him before. But can she trust even him?
