Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo Translation Bureau, Department of Culture, Government of Sindh Karachi, is going to publish the Stories of Sindhi Literature that have been written for the last hundred years. In fact, the idea was originally given by Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the Minister for Culture Government of Sindh Karachi, who advised that the stories written during the last hundred years should be published.
It was an uphill task but even after the sustained efforts of three years, the Stories of Sindhi Literature from 1914 to 2014 are in the hands of readers today. The process of translating stories into English was difficult but we got these stories translated by different translators which have been written for the last hundred years and got them contained into this book.
As far as the Sindhi Short Story is concerned, the modern short story started from 1914 and The Hurs of Makhi was written by a famous writer of Sindhi Literature, Lalchand Amar Dino Mal and it was published in the same year. It is strange that for the last whole century, it has not been translated. Now, this story, including its translation into English is being published as the first story in this book. Making a choice of the stories extended to a hundred years is really a gigantic endeavor.
