Product Description
  • A fascinating and comprehensive picture of contemporary jewellery in the 21st century, illuminating the conditions and interconnections of education, making, presentation, marketing and networking in design and art, using the example of the New Zealand Handshake project
  • Kim Paton (NZ) writes about teaching, Liesbeth den Besten (NL) about making, Sian van Dyk (NZ) about curating, Peter Deckers (NL/NZ) about exhibiting and Benjamin Lignel (FR) about collaborating, making this book a holistic overview of jewellery's place in the modern age
  • A real treat for anyone who is interested in in the visual arts at their broadest scope! In five complementary contributions, recognised authors draw a fascinating and complex picture of contemporary jewellery in the twenty-first century. Through a rich palette of themes, works, reports and concepts from current art practices, they illuminate the conditions and interconnections of education, making, presentation, marketing and networking in design and art using the example of the New Zealand Handshake project. This book will enrich and bring pleasure to all who are interested in the visual arts in their broadest sense!

Handshake is a unique mentoring programme in the art world, in which established artists spread their knowledge to less experienced protégés. The knowledge accumulated in this exchange, of a relationship based on feedback, is realised in exhibitions and joint projects.
