"The history of Mughal Empire is well documented and Kashmir which once formed an integral part of this empire, its Mughal period also stands well established. There are plenty of historical accounts and other literatuers available to the readers about the political history of this period.
But still there are several aspects of Mughal legacy which have been left unexplored. Apart from their political history and garden construction, the Mughal architectural heritage, their historic route with its links, Inns, Mughal Coins and Inscriptions had not been explored and documented.
Keeping in view the significance of this undocumented legacy and its influence in the present day kashmir I decided to explore this neglected heritage.
The road so constructed is likely to be commissioned for general vehicular traffic by this summer and as such the natural and built heritage spread on the either sides of the Pir Panchal would also get explored first time for the growing tourist industry of this state.
The history of the period is repeated here only to understand the legacy of this period. In this book readers would find the description of Mughal period monuments with special reference to the Mughal inns (Sarias). The respective gardens which they laid, the inscriptions which they engraved and the coins which they minted are explained with illustrations."
