Foreword Moral values are building blocks of character, ideas,
beliefs, and attitudes. The youth hold the future of any nation and society and
these core values help them bloom into morally strong and responsible
individuals. While religions and cultures may sometimes differ on an
interpretation of religious edicts, all of them prescribe the same philosophy
and are unanimous that long term well-being depends on the kind of values that
are instilled in the younger generation However, it is a matter of great
concern for all of us that the moral fabric of our society is eroding. The
materialistic world and uncontrolled media, which we experience today possess
serious challenges to Youth and people of other age groups to maintain high
moral values. Although Islam lays great emphasis on kindness, respect,
humility, generosity, courage, compassion, and hard work and textbooks are full
of examples of our ancestors and living legends to draw inspiration from; the
values of these stalwarts no longer play a vital part in our make-up. As we all
know youth consider their parents as their role models when they are young.
They watch their parents and other adults around them, absorbing everything
they say and do. Parents, therefore, need to set good examples of what they
want their children to be when they grow up. When children have positive role
models, they will become responsible, caring adults Therefore, we must all shun
negative emotions such as anger, revenge, hatred, expediency, selfishness,
ignorance, greed, envy, lust, pride, and making our livelihood by crossing
moral limits in pursuing our wants. Parents should be watchful of how they
conduct themselves in their dealings to leave a good and lasting impression on
the young ones. Education is a game-changer! A lot of hard work has gone to
compile this much needed book particularly for the youth to benefit them
throughout their lives. The book attempts to briefly describe each moral value
as well as elements of evil. We hope that the youth will not only read it but
also reflect. Our prime objective is o encourage them to become an asset to
society. The people of other age groups can also benefit from reading this Book
We must all be ready to make necessary lunges in our lives and show respect for
human life.
