A thousand splendid suns is a book by Kanked Hosseini. I found this book emotionally captiavtinh and also a real eye opener, I had never before truly understood the hardship of female life under Taliban rule. Undeniably Kahked Hosseini is a great story teller.Hid dedications of Afghanistan and his character being them a life for the reader. |

This book left me speechless. While I was heartbroken by the end of it, I loved reading the book and feel that that Khaled Hosseini’s writing did the beautiful story justice. Each character served a different purpose with their complex characters, be it Nana and her words, Jalil and his questionable decisions, Mariam hiding behind the word ‘harami’ and Lailas brave actions. Characters like Rasheed and Tariq provided a contrast for men, as both were so different in their views, the way they treated women, and in their words. |

The amount of pain and emotions Khaled Hosseini manages to portray in his books is simply amazing. Out of the three amazing books he has written, A Thousand Splendid Suns is my favourite. This book is an emotional roller coaster and makes you so attached to the characters. It shows the struggles of Afghanis during the war era and it is a beautiful and heartbreaking representation of how women have always had it worse. I remember pausing between the reading several times just to process what I had read. This book touches the issues of stigmatization, Mariam, one of the main characters of the story is an illegitimate child who struggles with her emotional needs and identity. this book perfectly describes the pain and hardships of being in an abusive relationship. My favourite thing about the book is definitely the mother daughter bond Mariam and Laila manage to build. 10/10, a must read. |
