Jochen Eisenbrand (*1970) is chief curator of the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein. After studying applied cultural studies at the University of Lüneburg, he received his doctorate from the University of Wuppertal in 2013. His dissertation was published in 2014 under the title "George Nelson. A Designer in the Cold War". At the Vitra Design Museum, he organized the exhibitions "Airworld - Design and Architecture for Air Travel" (2004), "Secret Heroes - The Genius of Everyday Things" (2010), "Night Fever. Design and Club Culture 1960–Today" (2018, as co-curator) and "Home Stories. 100 Years, 20 Visionary Interiors" (2020), as well as retrospectives on George Nelson (2008), Louis Kahn (2012, with Stanislaus von Moos), Alvar Aalto (2014) and Alexander Girard (2016). In 2019, Jochen Eisenbrand and Mateo Kries published the “Atlas of Furniture Design,” the fundamental work on 200 years of furniture history.
