Parvin Shere is an award-winning author, poet, and painter. She has published four bilingual (Urdu/English) coffee-table books, including three collections of poetry and one travelogue. Her work has received global recognition and is admired for its deep expressions of the human condition, and one's journey throughout eternity. Parvin's book of poetry Nehaal-e-Dil par Sahaab Jaise (Raindrops on Parched Land) is regarded to be the first of its kind in Urdu literature, based on the single theme of “Mother”. Her travelogue Chand Seepiyan Samandaron Se (Pearls from the Ocean) was featured in the best seller list at McNally Robinson, one of Canada's most prestigious bookstores. She has received 5 reputable awards for her poetry across the U.S, U.K, and India, including a prestigious literary award given by the Government of Bihar, India in 2018. Her travelogue has been included in the Grade 10 curriculum in Maharashtra, India, and her work is also the sole subject of MPhil and PhD students at JNU University, Delhi and Maulana Azad National University, Hyderabad, India. Parvin was honored as a nominee for the distinguished “Women of Distinction Award” in Manitoba, Canada for her contribution to art, culture, and heritage. Her paintings have been exhibited across Canada, U.S, U.K., France, Germany, China, and India. She has won eight prestigious awards in several art contests, including an Art Council Project Grant from the Government of Manitoba, Canada. She served on a highly respected jury panel for the Manitoba Society of Artists of Canada, a 121-year-old institution. Parvin Shere studied fine arts at the University of Manitoba, Canada, and Psychology at the University of Winnipeg, Canada. She worked in Film Classification at the Government of Manitoba, Canada and lives in New York city.
