Dr. David J. Wallace is a conscious culture curator and the Founder and Principal Consultant of Awakening Minds Consulting. His work primarily focuses on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion assessments and strategic initiatives, all in pursuit of racial and social justice.
Dr. Wallace began his career as an elementary school teacher in Brooklyn, New York, then held the role of instructional leader at a K-6 school in Miami.He then went on to become an Assistant Professor of Teacher Training, and eventually a Campus Dean at a Graduate School of Education. After six years of service, Dr. Wallace transitioned to consulting full-time. His goal is to expand and deepen his impact through partnerships and collaborations across the globe.
Dr. Wallace holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Morehouse College, a master’s degree from Relay Graduate School of Education, and an Educational Doctorate from St. Thomas University. His research interests include teacher self-efficacy and the experiences of male educators of color. Dr. Wallace’s most recent research was published in the Peabody Journal of Education. He is a native of Belle Glade, Florida, and currently resides in New Orleans, Louisiana.
