Michelle Davies was born in Middlesex in 1972, raised in Buckinghamshire and now lives in north London with her partner and daughter.
Her debut crime novel, Gone Astray, was published to critical acclaim in March 2016 and features Family Liaison Officer DC Maggie Neville as its central police character. Three more books followed in the series: Wrong Place, False Witness and Dead Guilty, before Michelle signed a two-book deal with Orion in 2019 to publish standalone psychological thrillers. The first, Shadow Of A Doubt, has received widespread critical acclaim following its publication in ebook in November 2020 and in paperback in February 2011. Her next psychological thriller, The Death Of Me, is due out in autumn 2021.
Michelle was previously a freelance journalist for women's magazines including Marie Claire, YOU and Stylist. Her last staff job before going freelance was as Editor-at-Large at Grazia and she was also Features Editor at Heat. She began her writing career straight from school at 18, working as a trainee reporter on the Bucks Free Press in High Wycombe. Now she mentors upcoming crime writers and is a reader/editor for Curtis Brown Creative.
