Miles Kelly is an independent children's book publishers based in the village of Thaxted, Essex, UK. The company's ethos is to create 'Children's books to inspire and share' with the aim of reaching as many children as possible, spreading the joy of reading. The in-house team of editors and designers work with reputable international authors and illustrators to create carefully planned and beautifully designed books for kids aged 3–12 years old.
Founded in 1996 by Jim Miles and Gerard Kelly, the company has grown considerably over the years and currently has a frontlist of more than 400 titles as well as hundreds of children's ebooks and interactive ebooks. From non fiction books for kids packed with awesome facts and dramatic photography to large collections of classic children's books illustrated with specially commissioned artwork, there's something for every child.
Miles Kelly boasts a global fan base, with their books for kids being enjoyed all over the world in 48 different languages across 79 countries. The diverse backlist of over 700 titles includes various subjects of children's encyclopedia, quiz books, dictionaries, atlases, handbooks, poetry, fairy tale books and novelty books. Among the bestsellers are the hugely successful 100 Facts series, now with over 80 titles available, the great value 384-page fiction and non-fiction books, and the much-loved Convertible books – playmat books that fold out into vehicles.
Miles Kelly supports various charities, including the Book Bus and the East Anglian Children's Hospice. A passionate advocate of the Book Bus charity, Miles Kelly has donated tens of thousands of books to help improve literacy in developing countries. In 2013, the company raised enough money through sale proceeds to buy a new bus for the charity to take to Malawi, extending the charity's reach.
The company's aim is to continue producing high-quality, affordable books for kids so future generations of children can enjoy them.
